Synthetic monofilament thread obtained from the extrusion of polyamide pellets. It is inert, non-capillary, and has a smooth surface. Due to its strength, even with very thin diameters, nylon thread is especially suitable for very fine sutures in microsurgery and ophthalmology. The thread is pigmented black or blue with harmless dyes.
Nylon is a non-absorbable, surgical suture composed of long-chain aliphatic polymers, like polyamide nylon 6 and polyamide nylon 6.6. The suture is available undyed or dyed blue or black with harmless dyes.
Non-absorbable
Blue or black
Monofilament
10/0 to 1
Ethylene oxide
DM0131N
Thread combinations with and without surgical steel needle.
Multipack in predetermined lengths.
Available in boxes of 12, 24, and 36 units.
Indications
Nylon suture is indicated for use in general soft tissue suturing or ligation, including use in cardiovascular, ophthalmic, and neurological tissues.
In handling suture materials, care should be taken to avoid damage from handling. Avoid crushing or crimping damage due to application of surgical instruments such as forceps or needle holders. Adequate knot security requires the accepted surgical techniques.
The use of additional throws may be particularly appropriate when knotting monofilaments.
