Synthetic Bandage – Tagumcast

Exclusive material for health professionals

The product is comprised of knitted fiberglass/polyester fabric impregnated with a water-activated polyurethane resin. When moistening the bandage, it undergoes a polymerization reaction and becomes solidified. It allows for obtaining a rigid bandage which is used to restrict temporary mobilization of a body segment.

  • The cast is lightweight, strong, and porous.
  • Permeable to air.
  • Translucent to X-rays.
  • Available in blue, green, pink, and white.
  • Cast for single use only.
  • It provides great stability and good impact strength.
  • The bandage is extensible in all directions which enables it to conform to difficult body contours.

Dressing Removal:

The dressing can only be removed by the treating physician using the equipment and standard technique to avoid injuries on the patient and heat accumulation while using cutting tools.

The product supports combustion under normal conditions. Uncured polyurethane dressing burns over an open fire.

Wet resin may adhere to skin and clothes, which may be a little irritating. Always use gloves for application. Use alcohol or acetone to remove any uncured resin. Do not use if there is any inflammation risk. For the cast window, wait 10 minutes after application before starting to cut.
